Position Summary

The Interim Director of Development and Marketing will serve as CIC’s brand manager and will serve as the main contact for donors, sponsors, and Board members engaged in fundraising. The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with skills to build upon a solid base of donors and community supporters to expand the reach of the organization. Provides quality development, oversight, and management of all CIC fundraising campaigns, events, community relationships, and marketing. Also serves as a visible community representative of CIC. The ideal candidate is passionate and takes initiative in support of a mission driven agency.

Core Responsibilities

Donor & Grants Development (60%):

  • This position involves multiple types of development work, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, gift management, and general organizational support.
  • Working in active partnership with the Executive Director, create an overall development and marketing strategy that prioritizes data-driven decision making and positive community perception
  • Implementing consistent messaging that supports the development strategy in partnership with staff
  • Coordinating the two major annual CIC fundraising events, the Annual Banquet and the Festival of Faiths, and the annual fundraising appeal
  • Maintaining all fundraising-related data for event promotion, execution, reporting, and process improvement
  • Creating sponsorship proposals and preparing reports as needed to support organization sustainability
  • Managing fundraising budgets, resources, contractors, and consultants to accomplish marketing & community relations campaigns
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with diverse community partners, board members, staff, and volunteers
  • Lead team effort in identifying and successfully applying for grants

Brand Management & Communications (30%):

  • Increase CIC presence in the larger Indianapolis community by showing up at events and fairs, and relevant community functions, etc.
  • Maintain relevant sections of the CIC website and social media, in collaboration with staff and vendors
  • Implement and enhance CIC Brand guidelines in marketing and communications
  • Act as staff liaison with the PR and Marketing committee of the board to promote CIC programs, opportunities for involvement, and impact

Other Responsibilities (10%)

  • Assist as needed in the implementation of CIC’s public and educational programming, such as Religious Diversity Training, Sacred Space Tours, Interfaith Dialogues, and film screenings. Programs represent an opportunity to interact with staff, board members, community volunteers, and the public to further support organizational development goals.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to strengthen and leverage relationships with community stakeholders, including AmeriCorps Service Sites

Required Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A commitment to CIC’s mission and values and a high degree of cultural competency
  • Well-developed verbal, listening, and written communications skills, especially an ability to communicate with empathy and respect in an environment that prioritizes diversity of people, perspectives, and experiences
  • Some experience or have successfully completed relevant coursework in development, communications, fundraising, and/or marketing
  • A high level of proficiency with donor database systems, specifically, an ability to enter data and generate reports efficiently & accurately in order to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player
  • All CIC Staff must complete a thorough federal background check.

Other qualifications and skills

These qualifications and skills are not required, but preferred:

  • Working knowledge of sorting, copying, and mass mail procedures
  • Bloomerang experience is a plus
  • Comfort with cloud-based design and communications tools like Canva and MailChimp
  • Ability to quickly and expertly adopt new technology, approaches, and processes
  • Familiarity with grants – writing, management, and/or reporting

Work Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Salaried position with generous PTO policy.
  • Primarily works in the office, can work out a flexible schedule to fit your needs.
  • Flexible working schedules, 8-hour shift Monday – Friday. Choose your start time between 8:00am-10:00am, and end time between 4:00pm -6:00pm.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required
  • Extensive administrative work on computer and phone.

Compensation

  • $50,000 – $60,000 per year (commensurate with experience and education)
  • Full Time, flexible hours and hybrid work environment.
  • Benefits: Health insurance. After 90-day Waiting Period: Up to 3% of a Simple IRA match, Mental Wellness benefit, Paid time off, and holidays
